The TODAY show and more…

day 2 of my Fashion Week experience

5:30am
I roll out of bed and feel like I have been run over by a herd of galloping moose. I think I’ve had a total of 7 hours of sleep in the past two nights…coffee please!

6:30am
It’s a beautiful New York morning and I hail a cap with the first flicker of my hand. Who then drives me four blocks away and drops me off at the Plaza for the Today show festivities. Yeah. Coulda walked here in the same amount of time. Hmmm, maybe I should try using that map that the concierge gave me…

I knew to get here early to get as much camera time as possible but I had NO clue that Michael Buble would be playing here today. I don’t even know what type of music the man plays…really hope he’s not a younger version of Yanni or Michael Bolton…can’t really tell from the crowds. He does have some serious groupies though.

Ohhh…camera, camera, camera….me, here, down here…waving. See me?

Camera at Today Show

So I’m a ham…you already know that….figured with a sign like this that I would catch the camera’s attention. Definitely gave me the chance to tell some stories to the crowd! BTW - the “him” I’m referring to is a long-lost NYC friend. Yes, he was one of the “inspirations” for the game…wink, wink!

i found him at the today show

4 camera shots later (yes, I had friends at home watching, counting and texting) Michael makes his big appearance. Think most of the ladies would have fainted if there would not have been a big crowd to hold them up. He has the same effect on the ladies that Elvis used to….hmmm. That itsy bitsy guy in the center of the pic (black jacket, white shirt) - that’s him. I’m only half way back too. Would hate to see the view from the very back of the plaza!

Photobucket

So, those of you who know me know that I become friends with everyone and usually get the “scoop” on what is going to happen next. I got lucky. Got the “scoop”. Met a couple of interesting people….

So I’m typically not the one who walks up to the celebs and gets the picture. To hell with that! Camera, bystander turned photographer, Billy Bush from Access Hollywood, Playing the Field in hand and me!

Amanda Brown and Billy Bush

Got the “you should wait another couple of minutes” and a wink from the security guard and got to meet Hoda! Note to self: give her a call and get on the Today Show!
Amanda Brown and Hoda Kotb at Today Show

This much fun and the clock is just striking noon! This is going to be a fun day in the city! :)

Maybe I should say fun day in the subway…Had lunch in Soho with Denning and thought I would be crafty and try the subway for the first time in my life.

I have now discovered that I am much better with the Underground in London than the subway in NYC. I saw way too much of this…

how to get lost

and not enough of the blue skies. Especially after I missed my stop at Central Park South by about 8 or so stops and ended up in Queens….that was fun (not) but at least everyone was really nice and helpful (I know, they thought I was a cute little moron)

Time to begin the evening’s festivities! Fashion show - time to go!
Ciao!

This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ‘Mixview’ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you’re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of “neighbors” will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune “Social” is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

This was a horrible tragedy. We lost the worlds greatest TV icon. Billy Mays was far more helpful, charismatic, and memorable than Patrick Swayze whom the media loves to reflect on. We need to remember a man who ALWAYS got your attention. A man that was dedicatted to the best. Who we loved his life, who we imitated, and who we looked up to as we shall continue to in his death. A death which leaves the world in comparative silence, in the wake of his strong voice. RIP, Billy Mays… We’ll remember you online when we use ALL CAPs to type.

  43. Exotic Car Rental Fort Lauderdale Says:

It was difficult for us to get to Miami when mom got into an accident. Since we didn’t own a car, we rented one from a car rental in our local city. It really helped us get to Miami urgently so I didn’t hesitate in paying extra to the car rental shop. The car was in good condition and their service was great.

If you’re still on the fence: grab your favorite earphones, head down to a Best Buy and ask to plug them into a Zune then an iPod and see which one sounds better to you, and which interface makes you smile more. Then you’ll know which is right for you.

  47. male enhancement penis Says:

This really is my very first time i visit right here. I discovered so numerous interesting stuff in your weblog especially its discussion. From the tons of comments on your content articles, I guess I am not the only one having all the enjoyment right here! maintain up the good work.

  48. Leandro Nunmaker Says:

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  49. Allyson Deloatch Says:

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

  52. Robin Hoerter Says:

Sorry for the huge review, but I’m really loving the new Zune, and hope this, as well as the excellent reviews some other people have written, will help you decide if it’s the right choice for you.

  53. Freeman Smaller Says:

The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  60. Serena Niemi Says:

Apple now has Rhapsody as an app, which is a great start, but it is currently hampered by the inability to store locally on your iPod, and has a dismal 64kbps bit rate. If this changes, then it will somewhat negate this advantage for the Zune, but the 10 songs per month will still be a big plus in Zune Pass’ favor.

  61. Beryl Govin Says:

Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.

  83. Marcelle Dimler Says:

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
